SCHOOLS

Mismatch Theatre aims to provide an engaging, educational and enriching Creative Learning Programme to promote creativity, community and confidence, all the while supporting curriculum work. We aim to offer learning through play; to inspire and spark imagination.

We are committed to helping school pupils learn the vital skills they need to grow into smart, compassionate and imaginative young humans. We love all things Drama, English and Music. We also love History and Science and Cultural Studies. Why not allow young people to combine the lot and create new ways of learning.

What would this look like?

We know that education does not look the same for each school, classroom or pupil, so we are able to adapt to best suit you.

  • A Performance in your school

  • A Performance and show-related Workshop

  • Drama and Creativity Workshops, including Puppetry, Creative Writing and Play in a Day

  • Discounted tickets to one of our performances happening near you

  • A downloadable Education and Activity Pack containing all the fun facts and some new ones mentioned in the show!

See what our previous students have said about us!

PROJECTS

How Many Legs?

Are you a Green School? Are your pupils interested in saving the planet?

‘How Many Legs’ aims to educate children about local insects and bugs to get them invested in the future of their planet, using theatre as a tool for accessible learning.  We have worked with Entomologists, teachers and musicians to create an informative show about all things bugs.

We don’t hold back on the slimy facts and debunk the common myths about the bugs we’re scared of. Think Horrible Histories but with Creepy Crawlies!

The show is interactive, fun and accessible to all. All performances will be relaxed, with additional support for students with visual or hearing impairments or those with additional sensory needs.

This project focuses on:

  • Sustainability

  • The future of Bugs: What the creepy crawlies are doing for us

  • Creature Habitats and how we can protect them

  • Encouraging young people to go outside and discover what's in their own back garden

Your school will benefit from:

  • A performance of the show in your school or (even better) playground or garden!

  • A day or half day of workshops following on from the facts and themes included in the play

  • A downloadable Schools Pack with all the facts from the show, plus activities to encourage further learning about Bugs, how to protect their habitats, how to create a bug hotel, a guide to local wild flowers and a wider list of resources/projects for those wanting to help the community.

If you are interested in booking How Many Legs for your school, theatre or group, or for more information about our show and workshops, please contact us. We'd love to hear from you!

WATERSTONES AND BOOKSHOPS

During 2019 we worked with Waterstones to provide free Imagination Workshops during our Storytelling Time:

"We welcome you to sit and listen to the stories, and join in with the Imaginative Workshop activities. We have multiple workshops designed to suit any type of young person, from the 'Outgoing Explorers' to the 'Quiet yet Curious'. This is suitable for little ones up to 12 years (but parents always have a great time too!)

This is a way for your little ones to explore the bookshop with curiosity and inspire them to pick up a book and take a look!"

We hope to return soon and get reading!
